Granactive retinoid is a newer variant of vitamin A and the brand name for the ingredient with the chemical name hydroxypinacolone retinoate. Granactive retinoid is a cell-communicating agent that works by binding directly to the retinoid receptors in the skin cells. The ingredient does not need convertion before the effect can occur, as is the case with other vitamin A variants. Granactive retinoid contributes to making the skin cells behave normally – this is beneficial for the skin on several parameters: Retinoids often work with a risk of skin irritation, but granactive retinoid is known to be more mild and well tolerated.
