Castor oil comes from the castor bean, which originates from tropical areas in eastern Africa and the Mediterranean countries. The special feature of castor oil is the rich content of ricinoleic acid (85-95%). Unlike many other fatty acids, ricinoleic acid has a water-binding component and a richer consistency, and is one of the most shine-giving oils. Castor oil has a softening effect on the skin, and at the same time contributes to reducing moisture loss. This oil is mixed with sunflower oil, which with its composition of 50-74% linoleic acid (omega-6) and 14-35% oleic acid (omega-9), gives the product a light and less greasy feeling on the skin.
